Growing Christmas trees

Our growing Christmas trees have been raised in pots, encouraging them to develop a fibrous root system that's capable of absorbing sufficient moisture and nutrients from the relatively small volume of the container.  These trees will have been grown in outdoor conditions and require care when brought into warm, centrally heated homes - just think about how much water we all drink on hot summer days to remain hydrated!  For best results,

  • acclimatise the tree to the warmer temperatures gradually if possible
  • place a saucer of water under the pot and ensure it is topped up regularly
  • in addition, water into the top of the pot - in warm rooms, water from the base may not reach the top of the pot
  • keep your tree away from hot fires or radiators

After Christmas, place the tree outdoors again, reduce the amount of water provided accordingly and grow it on for next year!
