As a local garden centre it is important for us to have an active role in the community, supporting local charities and community groups where we can. The main focus of our community support is through our Charity of the year Scheme. This allows us to focus all our fundraising efforts on one local charity year, making the support we can offer as effective as possible.
We are delighted to introduce Strive Wellbeing as our Charity of the Year 2016.
Strive Wellbeing work to support individuals to reduce the risk of social isolation. Their projects support mainly older people by offering services such as befriending. Other projects they run include ‘Men in Sheds’ and ‘She Sheds’ which enable retired men and women the opportunity to socialise while trying our new hobbies like DIY, furniture restoration, painting and community gardening. Strive Wellbeing are based in Tranent and currently have projects running in Dunbar, North Berwick, Tranent and Musselburgh.
Social isolation and the damaging effects that can result from it are a growing problem in Scotland- so we are delighted to be able to support such a great cause, help raise awareness of Strive Wellbeing and the work they do in East Lothian, and of course raise as much money as we can for them!
If you have any suggestions for fundraising activities for us we’d love to hear them! Just send us a message on our contact us page or let us know on your next visit!
