You know that mouthwatering feeling you get when you’re about to tuck in to something fresh, home-made and delicious?  That’s what we want to give you every time you eat at Merryhatton Garden Centre.

Our menu is built around a great range of tasty snacks, meals and home baking, all freshly prepared in our kitchen.  We’re famous for our hearty, wholesome soups.  Our daily specials reflect the changing seasons and mean there’s always something different to try.

We’re all about local at Merryhatton so it’s really important to us to source our ingredients from local suppliers wherever we can.   Our eggs, meat, dairy products, ice cream, fruit and veg are all from East Lothian businesses and we think that makes our food taste extra special. It also means the freshest food with the lowest number of food miles.

We’re open from 9.00 to 5.00 every day of the week.  So you can start the day with a hearty Merryhatton breakfast, pop in for coffee and a freshly baked scone, get together with friends for lunch, or sample one of our yummy afternoon teas.  And you’re guaranteed a friendly welcome from our staff.

Our kid's menu has a choice of smaller portions and some good old family favourites so your little cherubs will always be well catered for.  We know there’s only so long little ones will sit at a table for though, so the toys and books in our indoor play area should help.  Our customers love our family centred approach so much, we've been voted East Lothian's most baby-friendly cafe in a recent National Childbirth Trust survey.

We're accredited by VisitScotland through their EatScotland scheme, so you know you can expect high quality in our food, service and surroundings.  What customers think is just as important though, which is why we were delighted to be listed as one of Scotland's favourite cafes in VisitScotland's cafe days poll.

As well as our spacious, airy indoor seating area, we've got a lovely outdoor cafe garden area, covered against the elements, perfect for getting together with friends for a leisurely lunch.

And the view from our windows across the beautiful East Lothian countryside is sure to lift your spirits.  If you look over to the left you’ll see the fields where most of our vegetables come from.

Afternoon teas

You can now book afternoon tea in the cafe for any day of the week, between 2.00 and 4.00pm*. All we need is a minimum of 24 hours notice.

With a yummy selection of sandwiches, scones and mini cakes served with tea or filter coffee, it's the perfect reason to get together with friends. Only £6.45 per person.

We're also taking bookings for our extra special mother's day afternoon tea on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March, between 3.00 and 4.30pm.  Treat your mum to a special selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones with a cafetière of coffee or a choice of teas. Only £9.95 per person.
