For the last 30 years or more, Merryhatton has been operating as a retail nursery/market garden at East Fortune.
I bought the business in January 1997 and quickly realised that whilst our customers enjoyed visiting a working nursery, they also wanted to be able to buy a good range of garden products all in the one location.
We responded by developing a range of quality products at value for money prices and as a consequence the business has seen excellent growth ever since.
In 2006 we completely re-developed the garden centre, constructing a purpose-built shop and café which has proved very popular with customers. By more than doubling the areas outdoors and indoors, we have been able to offer a wider range of plants, garden essentials, furniture and gifts.
Our success has been in no small part due to our friendly and helpful staff. Everyone working in the garden centre has a personal interest in gardening and is constantly improving their knowledge so that we can continue to improve our customer care.
The Sunflower Café offers a wide range of quality teas and coffees, scones and cakes, soups, snacks and light meals, ALL home-made in our own kitchen. Our catering team has a wealth of experience, and is dedicated to producing high quality food in a friendly and relaxed setting.
